I’m a professional writer of both fiction and nonfiction. This website includes a short biography, a longer biography, a list of my publications to date, and a blog where I will publish news about new writing, appearances, as well as thoughts about the things that interest me. In fiction, I love writing stories that explore humanity and our place in the universe.
In non-fiction, I explore politics, history and the arts.
I am also an amateur photographer. All the images in this website are taken by me, and I retain the copyright in them. This means that it is illegal for anyone to take them without my express permission. That includes anyone “scraping” them by using machine coding to do so in bulk.
I do not knowingly use what’s been called AI in any part of my creative process, in my research, nor in building this website (despite the ways it’s forced in everywhere). If you use Apple and are up-to-date with its operating systems, then understand that what I call “Altman’s bumhole” turning up everywhere is not my doing. I also do not use “AI” to automate anything, unless it’s been forced into processes in ways that I can’t disallow it. If you want to know why? It’s simple. My work has been stolen by the people who are shoving the resultant bloatware everywhere, at best disregarding the multiple destructive qualities of their products, at worst they’re promulgating it with openly fascist aims. I do not use terms like “fascism” lightly.
I have stepped back from a lot of social media. Mainly, I’m on Bluesky and Discord. I left Facebook and X (or Twitter as it’s still more popularly known) a long time ago now. I’ve let my LinkedIn account fester but may get around to nuking it soon. As a rule of thumb, if someone with my name is posting on Facebook, Threads, X, or anywhere aside from Bluesky and Discord, it’s highly unlikely to be me.
